Limited v. Constructed 2.0-A Cry for Help

So how's that "Get the ole Constructed rating up" initiative going, CBG? Well I am glad you asked. Since making that resolution, I have participated in one event and gone 0-3. This dropped my rating another 7 points, to a new low of 1511. I really am starting to get a little embarrassed by this. After 3-1'ing my flight at the prerelease, my Limited rating is back up to 1654, only 4 points shy of the 1658 I reached after ambushing Gaudenis Vidugiris for 29 points at the PTQ-KL last year*. I still feel a little bad about that, especially since he won out to make top 8 and I, uh, 4-4'ed. A 143-point spread. Ouch.

So like I said, I am getting a little embarassed, and I am asking for help. What should I play at FNM or SNM to get that Constructed rating back up? Will somebody please test with me? It occurs to me that I play Constructed games like Limited games and that is hurting me. What do I need to do to get better at Constructed? Help me Obi-Wan, you're my only hope!

*Incidentally, Gaudenis was a really nice guy and got horribly mana screwed game 1, and lost to a ridiculous 4 removal spell draw game 2. No disrespect intended or implied.

Right now, you need to play with the most expensive type II cards you can get your hands on. I recommend making an aggro deck that is X/y/goyf. Drop dudes, turn sideways.

Or play storm.

GWgoyf aggro!

How come I have a feeling this is an indirect plea to get me to write something about Type 2?

Point of parlimentary procedure: Go-Dennis was Coy's opponent in the legendary 2hr30min KBC PTQ match that included the lunch break - mid match. They didn't start until every other match was done.

Play Elves! at FNM. MGB with Obsidian Battle Axes, or Elementals (Mono red aggro) with Battle Axes. With Simian Spirit Guides, You can T1 a Brighthearth Bannerett, and T2 a Countryside Crusher. Then you can Battle Axe and play something else and Hulk Smash! Plus, back it all up with burn. A grapeshot over cheap dudes is delicious. Lots of ideas. Remember, dudes win games. Think of your EDH decks. Drop dudes, turn sideways. It's what you do.

4 Brighthearth Bannerett
4 Simian Spirit Guide
4 Obsidian Battle Axe

4 Mogg War Marshall
4 Adder-Staff Boggart
4 Countryside Crusher
4 Keldon Marauders
4 Greater Gargadon

4 Incinerate
4 Shock

20 Mountains

Board Ideas:

Goblin Skycutter
Stingscourger
Hammerheim Deadeye
Dead // Gone

It needs focusing, but it screams BASH BASH BASH!

When shadowmoor becomes legal this is what I would play:

20 Mountain
4 Shock
4 Tarfire
4 Flame Javelin
4 Mogg Fanatic
4 Tattermunge Maniac
4 Scuzzback Scrapper
4 Vexing Shusher
4 Tattermunge Witch
4 Boggart Ram-Gang
4 Boartusk Liege

1) Turn 4 Liege should equal game over. (G/R guys are nuts).
2) The burn package could be changed to your liking but I like 8 shocks because playing a guy and burning something is more important in this deck. Flame Javelin is a great finisher and eats the ¾ vigilance dude.
3) Some of the numbers could be fiddled with to incorporate a couple extra lands.
4) Wither is going to be good considering Kitchen Finks. On that note, I like Boggart Ram-Gang better than Crusher. I really think he is the nuts.
5) I’m not sure Mogg Fanatic is right in this deck, but I like playing one of the best creatures ever printed.
6) Sideboard things: Puncture Bolt / Torture if Finks are that good. Fulminator mage is good against control decks. The new enchantment that prevents life gain seems good. Whatever else was mentioned above.

If you are talking about type 2 w/o shadowmoor, well, ignore this post!

I would play something with Bitterblossom, it is the best card in T2 right now

My current builds of decks I am playing on MWS are:

4 Fungal Reaches
4 Spinerok Knoll
12 Snow-covered Mountain
4 Molten Slagheap

4 Bogardan Hellkite

4 Rift Bolt
4 Rite of Flame
4 Pyromancer's Swath
4 Lotus Bloom
4 Grapeshot
3 Dragonstorm
3 Sulfurous Blast
3 Shard Volley
3 Shock

sb

3 Wheel of Fate
2 Empty the Warrens
4 Dodecapod (probably should be changed)
4 Firespout (Martyr of Ashes pre Shadowmoor)
2 Smash to Smithereens (Ancient Grudge pre Shadowmoor)

or

7 Forest
4 Treetop Village
4 Gilt-Leaf Palace
4 Llanowar Wastes
4 Mutavault
1 Pendelhaven

4 Wren's Run Vanquisher
4 Llanowar Elves
4 Boreal Druid
4 Bramblewood Paragon
2 Elvish Champion
4 Heritage Druid
4 Imperious Perfect

4 Gaea's Anthem
2 Garruk Wildspeaker
4 Hunting Triad

sb

2 Elvish Harbinger
1 Elvish Eulogist
4 Overrun
3 Prowess of the Fair
1 Shriekmaw
2 Squall Line
2 Terror

I would be more than happy to run either of these in an FNM at GU.

Dragonstorm doesn't really look like it gains anything from Shadowmoor except some sideboard options.

For Elves! nothing really jumped out at me from Shadowmoor... but I wasn't really looking for cards in this deck either though.

Right now I'm looking into a few decks, but I'm liking U/W the most so far. It looks like the U/W build I would go with would just be a revamp of Reveillark with cards like Plumeveil. Either that or some full blown control with Oona but I'm not sure yet.

Other decks that sound ridiculous:
-Mono red splash goyf
-Goblins(b/r, g/r or even b/g)
-B/R sligh
-U/B Teachings w/Plumeveil + Oona

And way too many others that seem very Tier 2 or lower though.
