If you and your opponent can't target a Planeswalker but your opponent can redirect direct damage spells at resolution time to the PW, why wouldn't "target player gains X life" also have the ability to be redirected? Also, if you can prevent the next X damage a DD spell would be dealing to you, why can't you prevent the damage to the Planeswalker? They seem very fragile .
